Based in East Auckland, Sketch Architecture Ltd provides architectural design services throughout greater Auckland and across urban and regional New Zealand. We specialise in delivering personalised, innovative design solutions for both residential and commercial projects.
At Sketch Architecture, we do not follow a predetermined architectural style or passing design trends. Instead, every project is shaped by the unique requirements of our clients, the characteristics of the site, and the opportunities presented by each brief. This approach ensures every design is both distinctive and thoughtfully tailored to its environment.
Practicality is at the core of our design philosophy. Budget, buildability, and long-term value are considered from the outset, allowing us to develop efficient, cost-effective solutions without compromising design quality.

We maintain strong working relationships with Building Consent Authorities and pride ourselves on delivering detailed, well-coordinated documentation that facilitates an efficient consent process.

People
Sketch Architecture is a small and highly motivated team founded by Tony Pilkington in 2007 having returned to New Zealand from living abroad. Tony has previously worked at leading architects Jasmax and Archimedia before leaving for the United Kingdom where he spent 3 years working at Frederick Gibberd Partnership and the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
Tony studied NZCD(Arch) at Carrington Polytechnic and Bachelor of Architecture at Unitec School of Architecture and through continued professional development is committed to offering our clients the best available service.
Tony is supported by Tracey Pilkington. Tracey has a background in business administration and manages office systems and is responsible for accounts and financial management.
