Based in East Auckland, Sketch Architecture Ltd serves clients throughout greater Auckland and across urban and regional New Zealand. The firm specialises in offering personalised and unique building designs for both residential and commercial projects.
At Sketch Architecture, we do not adhere to any particular architectural style or fashion. Instead, we respond directly to the specific needs of each client and site, drawing inspiration from the individuality of every project. This approach ensures that each design is tailored to fit the project’s unique requirements and the context in which it exists. Our team is continually mindful of the budget and economic considerations involved in every building project. These essential factors are integrated into the design process right from the start, ensuring efficient, cost-effective solutions.

We maintain strong, open communication with Building Consent Authorities and ensure the timely delivery of highly documented plans.
With over 400 documented residential and commercial remedial projects, many of which have earned architecture design awards, we have a proven track record in the industry. Our experience also extends to navigating the complexities of council notices to fix, MBIE Assessor’s reports, and building surveyor’s remedial works reports. We specialize in bringing new life to dated monolithic clad homes, transforming them into visually striking, modern spaces.

Sketch Architecture is a small and highly motivated team founded by Tony Pilkington in 2007 having returned to New Zealand from living abroad. Tony has previously worked at leading architects Jasmax and Archimedia before leaving for the United Kingdom where he spent 3 years working at Frederick Gibberd Partnership and the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
Tony studied NZCD(Arch) at Carrington Polytechnic and Bachelor of Architecture at Unitec School of Architecture and through continued professional development is committed to offering our clients the best available service.
Tony is supported by Tracey Pilkington. Tracey has a background in business administration and manages office systems and is responsible for accounts and financial management.
